Maison du Macaron

So Neil and I were walking through the Midtowny area looking for the rental agency when we walked by a sign that said Maison du Macaron, and as I was getting excited about a store of macarons, I looked in the window and saw a rainbow assortment of macarons! I love rainbows, and macarons, crazy! (A macaron is a cookie made with almond flour and egg whites that is normally round shaped and sandwiched with an icing and another cookie) We kept walking then I realized I should go in, so we turned around and awkwardly walked in. It looked like a cute little coffee shop with another case inside full of macarons, and smaller pastries like tarts and little cakes. They had a list of flavors from chocolate, hazelnut, to passion fruit and a whole bunch of fun and colorful flavors. The sad part was that they cost 2.50 each and they are about the size of a half dollar. They are quite pricey to make, because almond flour is $9 a pound, but when you think about how many they make in each batch, they are making some good money. Any who, we each had one, Neil went for the simple chocolate and I tried the praline (hazelnut). Soooooo good, they were delicious, Neil's might have been the simple chocolate but it was so rich and chocolatey. The praline one was like biting into a hazelnut cloud, it was melt in your mouth yummy. Very satisfying, I will definitely try to go back.

We then proceeded to check out apartments in the Upper West Side with a broker and realized that we didn't want to pay 1500 to live in a box. Funny story, we were checking out the second apartment, and the broker had to ring buzzers for people to unlock the front door for us, which he is allowed to do because it is a deal they had with the landlord. We were let in the building and when we walked towards the stairs we could here an angry voice saying "who's there" and the Broker started introducing himself, we then went around a corner and we were greeted by a fat New Yorker in his boxer shorts who started yelling at the broker and threatening to throw him down the stairs. It was very excited and funny to watch the broker outsmart the fat guy.  After that I decided didn't want to live in that apartment building, at all. It was a one bedroom though, technically it was a studio with a wall separating it from the kitchen. We only saw 2, and they were way too small for anyone to live in, plus they were each on the 5th floor with no elevator... so we decide on NJ.

Making of the Blog

The whole reason I made this blog was so I could create a list of bakeries, or restaurants that I've been to, or that I would like to go to in the next couple of months, or maybe even years. I wassss just going to do it on Microsoft word, but since this can be made as pretty as I want it to be, I went for the blog. Another plus for the blog is you people, my family can read it and see what I am up to, or you can just text me like you normally do.
"The List" (in no particular order) thus far contains TWO place that I have been to, and others to come!
I will be adding more when I come across more. The next post will be more about the bakeraunts (Bakery/Restaurants)...with PICTURES!
